SPRING IS IN THE AIR, by Tom FreesePosted: 2010-03-05
With all MLB teams now at their Spring Training Camps, being from Philadelphia I have my pulse on all the Philly teams. The Phillies look to have the goods to get back to the World Series. They now have perhaps the best pitcher in baseball in Roy Halladay
THE CELTICS GETTING OLD RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR EYES, by Tom FreesePosted: 2010-02-26
Most of you know by now that I am life long Boston Celtic fan. In fact all of my friends call me Celtic Tom. My team is getting older right in front of me. Lets be clear on one thing. The "BIG THREE" of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen can't hold a candle to the "BIG THREE" of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish. That team also had the late great Dennis Johnson. The Celtics won 3 Championships in the Bird Era they beat Houston in 1981 they beat the Lakers in 1984 and they beat Houston again in 1986.
KANSAS JAYHAWKS 2009/2010 PREVIEW, by Tom FreesePosted: 2009-11-10
Mostly every poll I look at has Kansas winning the National Championship this year. They have all five starters returning. I understand that the Big 12 will be the best league in the country hands down.
AL EAST A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, by Tom FreesePosted: 2009-07-03
For my money three of the top five teams in Major Leagues Baseball are in the American East Division. At this writing the Boston Red have the best record in the American League going 48-30. The Yankees, Tampa Bay, and Toronto all have winning records. Baltimore is not a bad team but they are in over their heads in this Division.
News and Notes from the NBA, by Tom FreesePosted: 2009-04-17
The NBA Playoffs begin Saturday with the defending World Champion Boston Celtics playing the Chicago Bulls. The only time that the Celtics won back to back Championships was when Bill Russell was on the team. Larry Bird's Celtics won three Championships but never won two in a row. For the Celtics to repeat this year is not likely as it appears Kevin Garnett is finished for the year. |
