Playbook $100K imagination fund official rules

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. THE CONTEST IS NOT A TRIAL FOR PURPOSES OF OBTAINING EMPLOYMENT WITH PLAYBOOK.

Playbook is the sponsor of this Contest and is offering the Imagination Fund (“Contest”). The fund is designed for eligible artists (”Applicant” / ”Artist” / ”You” / ”Entrant”) to unleash their creativity and bring their unique ideas to life within 30 days. This Contest is hosted by Playbook Digital Inc. (“Host”). By entering this Contest, you agree to these terms (”Official Rules”).

1. Overview

At Playbook, our mission is simple: we help creatives be more creative. With the Imagination Fund, we want to bring together our creative community to let our imagination fly without letting financial worries get in the way. The aim of this Contest is to identify, through an application and judging process, 50 people (each individually a “Winner”; collectively, “Winners”) who will each receive between USD $1000 and $10,000 (”Prize”) to bring their unique idea (”Project”) into reality.

2. Eligibility

To submit an entry, you must be over 18 years old, and currently residing in the U.S or Canada. Eligible individuals may enter the Contest from 12:00am Eastern Time (”ET”) on 20 August 2024 until 11:59pm ET on 10 October 2024. Entries must be submitted by following the process outlines in these Official Rules and be received by the close of the Contest to be eligible.

Contest winners will be required to prove their identity using a standard form of identification (e.g. passport, drivers license) to the Host before the prize is distributed.

3. How to enter

To enter the contest, You will need to:

  • Register for a user account with Playbook (if not already registered) and agree to the Playbook Terms of Service.
  • Use Playbook templates to showcase your creative self, previous works and your project idea for the Imagination Fund.
  • Publish your board and submit the published link via Playbook Dropzone. This published link will be added to the public Playbook community page.

You can only win one Prize, even if You submit multiple entries.

4. Selection and judging process

The selection process will occur in four separate phases, which may include additional requests for information from Entrants:

  1. Phase I/All applicants (20 August - 10 October, 2024) Using Playbook templates, showcase your previous creative work and project idea. Submit your completed application via Dropzone by 10 October, 2024.Once your initial application is approved, your submission will be posted on #PlaybookCommunity for public voting. Public voting will end on Oct 18th, 2024 11:59pm ET.
  2. Phase II/Visual assessment (Rolling basis - October 18th, 2024) Selected applicants will be invited to submit a second visual assessment consisting of design plans, drawings, mock-ups, photographs, videos and a high level project budget. Additional details will be included in the acceptance email. This round will close October 18th 11:59pm ET, 2024. A Playbook committee will select a group of Finalists for the final assessment by a Judging Panel.
  3. Phase III/ Finalists selection (Oct 18 - Oct 25, 2024) The Judging Panel will vote to select the 50 Winners by Oct 11th 11:59pm ET, 2024
  4. Phase IV/ Winners announced (Oct 28, 2024) Following the Selection Process, the Winners will be notified for Prize distribution.
  5. Phase V/ Create for 30 days! (Nov 4 - Dec 4, 2024) Selected artists will partake in Playbook’s month-long Imagination cohort.

5. Submissions

Ownership and content

  • The Artist retains ownership of all ideas and materials/uploaded to the website.
  • The Artist can only enter work that has been created by The Artist that they have the right and authority to enter and publish.
  • The Artist can enter third-party content that is not owned by them in their entries, but they must give due credit to their original creators.

Fan art

  • Fan art is allowed. The Artist can enter work inspired by concept artists, but The Artist must credit any other artist’s work.

Professional work

  • No professional work can be submitted to the Contest. This includes work that was completed at a studio, or as part of freelance paid work. Only personal work created by the Artist will be accepted.

AI-generated artwork

All entries must be predominantly be the original work of the entrant. While we recognize the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in the modern creative process, there are specific guidelines for the use of AI-generated content:

  • Inspiration and development: AI-generated content may be used as a tool for inspiration and to aid in the development of your project. This includes using AI for idea generation, concept development or as reference materials.
  • Originality requirement: Direct upload of AI-generated images or content where AI has played a predominant role in the execution or final outcome is not permitted. The use of AI should complement, not replace, the entrant’s original work.
  • Disclosure: Direct uploads of AI-generated content should include prompts used to generate artwork. Including any initial or intermediary versions of your AI artwork is highly encouraged.

Playbook reserves the right to remove any entry from the Contest for any reason and without notice. Entries that do not meet the Contest requirements will be removed.

6. The Prize

A total of fifty (50) Entrants will be selected to receive the Prize. Each Winner will receive a monetary grant in the amount between USD $1000 to $10,000, subject to the Prize distribution requirements listed below, and any tax required to be withheld in the Winner’s region of residence.

Prize distribution requirements are intended to ensure that all funds are utilized for the sole purpose of creating the project that Winners propose at the time of submission. Distribution of the Prize will occur in two (2) phases:

  • Kickstart your project: Each Winner will receive 40% out of the total awarded amount before 21 October, 2024 to help lay the groundwork for their project.
  • Home stretch: Based on the completion, effort and quality, the remaining of 60% of the grant will be awarded. A detailed rubric assessing “completion, effort and quality” will be communicated to Winners.

Unless Playbook is required by Winner’s region of residence to withhold and pay the income tax withholding amount levied against by the Prize, Winners will be responsible for all taxes (income and withholding) associated with acceptance and use of the Prize and Winners should take this into consideration when creating a budget for their Project. Playbook will have no obligation whatsoever for any related taxes or social contribution that may be payable in connection with the Prize if it is not required for Playbook to withhold as stated above.

7. Notification of Winners

Following the Selection Process the potential Winners will be selected by the Judging Panel by 11 October, 2024 and will be notified within two (2) calendar days thereof by email to the address provided at the time of submission.

If a notification is returned as undeliverable, or a potential Winner is determined to be ineligible or disqualified for any reason, the Prize will be given to the Artist that has the next highest number of votes from Judging Panel.

8. License and Ownership

YOU OWN ALL OF YOUR USER CONTENT, INCLUDING ANY ASSETS THAT YOU UPLOAD OR ADD TO PLAYBOOK.

8.1 Ownership

At a high level, Playbook lets you upload, organize and collaborate on images, videos, audios, design files and other content (”User Content”). As between you and Playbook, you retains all intellectual and industrial property rights (including moral rights) in and to your work. We will not claim any ownership in your User Content - it is completely, 100%, yours.

Playbook grants you a limited, nonexclusive, revocable, non-transferable, non-sublicensable royalty-free license to use and display our name, logo, trademarks, and other brand identifiers for the sole purpose of promoting our Showcase and Playbook. We own and retain all intellectual property rights in our services. This will in no case serve to transfer any Playbook intellectual property rights to you.

8.2 Publicity

As a condition of entering the Contest, you agrees to participate in any media or promotional activity resulting from the Contest and grant us a limited irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, nonexclusive, transferable, and royalty-free license to copy, use, modify, publish, post, and display your name and submission through any medium or channel, including Playbook digital channels, social media, or websites, solely to promote the Contest and Playbook’s products/services. You may revoke this grant at any time by sending an email to [email protected].

9. Right to Cancel, Modify and Disqualify

If for any reason the Contest does not occur as planned, including but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest, Playbook reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.

10. General Contest Prohibitions

The Artist agrees not to do any of the following:

  • Post, upload, publish, submit or transmit any content that: (i) infringes, misappropriates or violates a third party’s patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, moral rights or other intellectual property rights, or rights of publicity or privacy; (ii) violates, or encourages any conduct that would violate, any applicable law or regulation or would give rise to civil liability; (iii) is fraudulent, false, misleading or deceptive; (iv) is defamatory, obscene, pornographic, vulgar or offensive; (v) promotes discrimination, bigotry, racism, hatred, harassment or harm against any individual or group; (vi) is violent or threatening or promotes violence or actions that are threatening to any person or entity; or (vii) promotes illegal or harmful activities or substances;
  • Use, display, mirror or frame the Playbook services or content, or any individual element within its services, Playbook’s name, any Playbook trademark, logo or other proprietary information, or the layout and design of any page or form contained on a page, without Playbook’s express written consent;
  • Send any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, promotional materials, email, junk mail, spam, chain letters or other form of solicitation;
  • Impersonate or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity;
  • Violate any applicable law or regulation; or
  • Encourage or enable any other individual to do any of the foregoing.

Playbook reserves the right, but is not obligated to remove or disable access to any entries at any time and without notice. This includes, but is not limited to, Playbook’s determination, and at their sole discretion, any content considered to be objectionable, in violation of these terms, or in violation of the law. Playbook may also consult and cooperate with law enforcement authorities to prosecute users who violate the law.

11. Governing Law

These terms and any action related thereto will be governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to its conflict of laws provisions.
